St. Augustine Floratam

DESCRIPTION:

Introduced in 1973, Floratam is almost exclusively used in Florida. Floratam establishes and spreads rapidly, while producing thick turf with a very coarse texture. It does well in many diverse soils and is highly competitive against weeds. Proper mowing and irrigation make Floratam a well-adapted turf for home lawns in Florida.

St. Augustine Palmetto

DESCRIPTION:

A native St. Augustine cultivar, Palmetto is selected for better color and finer texture. It spreads rapidly horizontally, but the vertical growth is slower. Palmetto is quickly being accepted as a landscaping standard.

St. Augustine Seville

DESCRIPTION:

Seville is a semi-dwarf cultivar with dark green color and low growth habit. Due to its compact growth habit, Seville tends to be thatch-prone and has shallow rooting. The texture is finer than St. Augustine Floratam variety.

Common Bermuda

DESCRIPTION:

Argentine Bahia

DESCRIPTION:

Bahia was originally used as pasture grass. It has a coarse texture with low-growing stout, woody runners. Bahia does best in sunny areas and can be ruined by excessive watering. Bahia provides a decent "medium utility" turf grass in Southern areas but will not provide as fine a lawn as others.

Centipede

DESCRIPTION:

Centipede grass has a moderate coarse blade with slow growing, short, upright stems. Therefore, it requires less mowing than most grass. It has a light yellowish green color. Centipede not only adapts will to poor soil, but it also crowds out weeds aggressively. It grows best in full sun areas.

Empire Zoysia

DESCRIPTION:

Empire Empire Zoysia is as hardy as it is attractive. With a deep root structure it is drought tolerant. Zoysia combines a soft feel with a lush green color. Zoysia has proven to be chinch bug, web worm and disease resistant. This is a good option for little maintenance requirements.
